Naked leather (without embellishment) with a thickness of 1.3 millimeters provides the best protection against the elements, and puts a thick layer of skin between the biker and the road in the case of an accident. Supple and soft to the touch from the start, naked cowhide motorcycle jackets and chaps need no breaking in period, as is required by the thinner top grain leather that has a noticeable stiffness to it when new.
